Clever: I have no questions. What questions?
Owl-Chymist: Primarily Question A (re: “Dog-Head”) & Question B (re: “me,” meaning you). We consider first Question B.
Clever (secure in her pocket lies the walnut; eye lurks within):
Owl-Chymist: Question B asks “Why me?”
Clever: So tell me. I am curious. Why me?
Owl-Chymist: What a Dunderhead you are to ask. Because Philosophy says so.
(straightens feathers in pedantic manner; recites from memory) “Reason proves ’tis Truth underlies events. The Arc of a Life Liv’d is deriv’d from that same partickular Genius as the built Arch. The whole ’tis sufficiently secur’d by the entireness of its Fabrick. Individual Stones conspire that one may mutually strengthen and support the other; each single Stone, if sever’d from the rest, would be perhaps Defenceless.”
Clever (skeptical): Such is life? A hole encircled by stones?
